Notary services for expats

Many of us expats living and working in the UAE have various assets or financial interests in our home countries or other foreign markets. However, having to take any action on those interests from the UAE can present a challenge when it comes to documentation.

In my case, I wanted to sell my property in the US. As I was not physically present in the country to have my sale transfer agreement witnessed, I needed to have a notary public notarise this documentation.

This of course didn’t come as a surprise, but a sense of trepidation set in as I realised how long this process may take. While this service is available through the US Embassy, the first possible appointment was only after two weeks!

On this occasion, I wasn’t able to wait that long and needed to notarise the sale transfer documents immediately. I started asking my colleagues and friends if there was an alternative and quick solution.

I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Nicola Dorgham-Milne, a certified British Notary who works at Addleshaw Goddard – a premium business law firm with an international reach and exceptional breadth of services.

Using her own stamp, Nicola can witness and authenticate the execution of certain classes of documents and take acknowledgments of deeds and other conveyances. Her notarisation service takes less than 24 hours to execute. She is efficient, helpful and highly professional.

I would like to thank Nicola and Addleshaw Goddard for all the help and guidance provided on this matter. I recommend her highly to anyone requiring notarisation.
