The UAE is by far the UK’s largest civil export market in the Middle East and North Africa. It is also the UK’s 13th biggest trading partner in the world.
UK export of goods and services to the UAE in 2012 totaled £7.26m. Exports of goods for the period January to May 2013 show an increase of 9% over the same period in 2012. UK imports of goods from the UAE increased by 16% in 2012. Bilateral trade is therefore firmly on track to meet the target set by the UK-UAE Joint Economic Committee in 2009 to increase the value of bilateral trade from £7.5 billion (2009) to £12 billion in 2015. Links has been instrumental in helping UK companies set up in the UAE to take advantage of numerous opportunities in this dynamic market across a range of sectors.
Links has now teamed up with the Dubai Foreign Direct Investment Office to run a series of events in the UK in September to highlight opportunities in Dubai and to discuss ways to conduct business. Our delivery partners in the UK include UK Trade and Investment, the Welsh Assembly Government and Scottish Development International.
Further details of the events to follow in the coming weeks.
