Do you know where you are going?

Have you ever wondered how Lawrence of Arabia trekked effortlessly across the desert when it takes you two hours to locate Satwa Post Office?

Well, help is at hand, courtesy of the new official geo-addressing system endorsed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.

“Makani”, means my location, will quickly identify the exact location of the building you are looking for.

A ten digit number will be installed in all the residential and commercial buildings in Dubai. All you need to do to ensure you know exactly where to go is to visit www.makani.ae or download the “Makani Dubai” app from App Store or Google Play. Enter the 10 digit Makani number of the building you wish to find and, ‘hey presto’, it will identify where the building is.

The number can be used as co-ordinates for GPS systems such as Garmin and digital maps, Google and Apple.

Even if you do not have the Makani number of the building, you can still search your destination by entering the place name or building address.

Once all the buildings have been issued the Makani number, please remember to publish it on all your business cards, letterheads and websites so your clients and suppliers can readily find you.
