Italian design and engineering sectors turn attention to Qatar

Last week, Project Qatar 2014 attracted the world’s best construction companies with more than 2,000 local and international exhibitors from 50 countries participating in the four-day show. Project Qatar once again demonstrated its position as one of the region’s most successful construction events, attracting key buyers and industry leaders looking for the most up-to-date technologies and engineering equipment available in the market.

As part of this year’s show, the Italian Chamber Of Commerce, in collaboration with the Qatar Chamber of Commerce, organised a networking event to bring together 25 top Italian design and engineering companies with more than 60 local companies. Their intention was to discuss opportunities for forming joint ventures and strengthening and boosting mutual cooperation between both countries, especially in the most critical business sectors such as trade, investment, industry and infrastructure.

The Links Group was pleased to support the networking event as main sponsor. We had the chance to present to this important delegation of Italian entrepreneurs and companies The Links Group’s business model and the fundamental role that it plays in the Qatari market.

The delegation included: the industrial design leader PINIFARINA (http://www.pininfarina.it/), the architecture engineering company ELEMENT (http://www.elementae.it/), the famous interior design firm AM LAB (http://www.alfonsomaligno.com/it/), and many other businesses such as lighting, deco wall, real estate, air conditioning, domotic and industrial machinery companies.

The three hour event included a brief introduction from the Italian Ambassador Guido De Sanctis, Palma Libotte (Chairman of the Italian Chamber Of Commerce), who discussed the sectors that are expanding rapidly in Qatar and how the Italian companies can support in these areas.

After a brief presentation by the Italian Trade Commissioner Andrea Ferrari, I was invited to talk to the Italian community participating in the event on behalf of The Links Group – Qatar.

As the Italian companies were not familiar with the Qatari market, we provided a general market overview of the Qatari economy and the vast number of business opportunities available in the country in line with the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the Qatar 2030 Vision.

The peninsula state of Qatar is one of the most promising project markets in the world today. With Qatar gearing up for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the country has opened to the world a myriad of investment and project opportunities. However, to have a successful business in the Gulf state, there are some important steps and factors foreign companies need to consider before establishing a market presence.

While the roadmap may seem complicated, a trusted company formation specialist will be able to set you on the right path and help you avoid potentially costly roadblocks along the way. Foreign investors that position themselves correctly via the most appropriate means of legal incorporation will be well placed to capitalise on the lucrative opportunities Qatar offers.

With positive energy, professionalism and a proven track record, The Links Group is well positioned to help foreign investors to expand to Qatar and direct them on how best to protect their 49 per cent business interest.
